Amy Lee Records ‘Dream Too Much’ Children’s Album With Her Family
Evanescence vocalist Amy Lee continues to carve her own path in music. While she has occasionally performed with Evanescence over the last few years, she’s also devoted time to projects close to her heart and her latest is a new children’s album titled Dream Too Much.
Lee reveals in a video feature about the new disc that the idea evolved over time, first singing to her son and around the same time deciding to record some music with her father John, who is also a musician. From there, Lee’s uncle Tom, her younger sisters Cari and Lori, her youngest sibling Robby and even her two-year-old son Jack also got involved, while she kept the experience in her musical family by selecting Evanescence’s Will Hunt to produce the album.
“This album is very personal to me. My husband and I had our first baby in 2014 and he has been the center of the inspiration for this children’s album,” said Lee in a statement. “Every song on this album has a story – whether it’s an original for our son based on his favorite things or a song my dad used to sing to me when I was a little girl. I can’t begin to tell you how fulfilling this project has been.” She adds, “It’s just been extremely good for my heart and for my family too.”
The disc includes 12 newly recorded tracks, including seven originals and five popular covers. You can check out the full track listing below, while there is a player featuring the “Dream Too Much” title track that you can listen to above. The album, which arrives on Sept. 30, is available to stream for Amazon Prime members. It’s also available to pre-order at this location.
Over the last few years, Amy Lee has spent time working on film scores and recording some covers of interest for her YouTube channel. As for Evanescence, she did play a handful of shows with the band last fall, and admitted back in October that while she was working on new music, she wasn’t sure what the plan was for Evanescence moving forward.
